Giveaway – Recipes For Life by Linda Evans

Linda Evans Recipes For LifeLinda Evans has been loved for many years. Some have followed her career since she was on The Big Valley. While others discovered her when she became a huge star on Dynasty. Did you see that she was even on Hell’s Kitchen? I can not usually say that I am too young for something, but I am a bit too young to know about the ups and downs of her real life, so I found this book fascinating!

We did not watch much TV when I was growing up and we most certainly never watched Dynasty. Are you kidding me? I was not even allowed to watch The Simpsons! Linda Evans was just some star that I would see on magazines and in commercials for her shows. I never learned much more about her. Since reading this book and talking with people, I have however found that there are MANY people that followed her so closely that they can give you a time line on her marriages!

I went into reading this book without knowing a thing about Linda Evans. I thought that it would be interesting but I did not know that I would end up really feeling for this woman! It really is a story that goes from rags to riches and has many ups and downs along the way. From being poor and the deaths of her parents to the heartache and despair of losing husbands, this book really makes you connect with Linda.

There are many bright moments in the book also. As the title states, it is her Recipes For Life. Included in the book are moments with her many cherished friends both famous and not. Along with the stores of time spent with friends she includes their favorite recipes and some of her own recipes that have real meaning to her. One that really touched me was the recipe for her Mom’s Hot Dog Stew. Her family did not have much money growing up but she loved the care her mom put into making her meals.

Linda Evans could have written a boring autobiography that paints her as this perfect glowing star, but instead she wrote a very personal book that shows her life through good times and bad. This book will be loved by her many fans but it is such a real heartfelt story that everyone will enjoy it. I really loved this book and I can not wait to try out some of the recipes!

I was sent an advance copy of this book to review. All opinions are my own.
